Great Lakes Medicine Hospitalist Application Evaluation & Modernization

Great Lakes Medicine engaged We Build Databases (WBD) to evaluate their existing hospitalist application environment, assess a newly developed non-production system, and help define and implement a roadmap for future functionality. Founded in 2005, Great Lakes Medicine is a trusted in-patient care provider across Southeastern Michigan, staffed by experienced hospitalists with specialized training in acute care. With a strong commitment to delivering best-in-class care, the organization recognized the need to modernize and unify its internal application tools to better support operations, clinical efficiency, and physician workflows. WBD was selected to lead a comprehensive discovery and development engagement—including system assessment, technical consultation, and implementation of next-generation tools such as voice recognition, facial recognition, and automated compensation tracking.

challenge

Over time, Great Lakes Medicine had developed and maintained multiple internal systems to support its hospitalist operations. These included a legacy production application and a separate, newly developed application not yet deployed with live data. However, the lack of a cohesive structure introduced challenges:

To continue delivering high-quality care and manage growing data needs, Great Lakes Medicine needed an experienced partner to bridge these gaps and architect a sustainable long-term solution.

WBD led a comprehensive evaluation of Great Lakes Medicine’s production and non-production systems to establish a cohesive, modern platform that could scale with the organization’s clinical and operational needs. The engagement focused on aligning both systems, identifying key performance and workflow gaps, and implementing high-impact features that directly support provider efficiency.

Key solutions delivered include:

With these enhancements in place, Great Lakes Medicine is now equipped with a smarter, more secure, and highly functional system that elevates both provider experience and administrative precision.
